Sally Wood was born in Worcester in 1971 and after excelling in art at school, she fulfilled a life long ambition, and joined Royal Worcester as an artist where she undertook her apprenticeship. Initially trained to mix the colours, after a few months soon began painting figurines. Her talents were soon recognised, and she progressed very quickly from figurines on to much larger models and after just a couple of years, due to Sally’s abilities and flair, she was given the opportunity to paint the famous “Painted Fruit”. Sally’s love of landscape paintings and countryside scenes is reflected in her work, as she gives her backgrounds and foregrounds as much meticulous attention as she does to her main subject, her fruit! Sally has become famous for her detailed Apples, Blossom, Peaches, Strawberries and Blackberries. Her painting can be described as very rich in detail with strong definition of shading. She has demonstrated “The Art of Painted Fruit” in the USA, Canada, Europe and the Far East.
